Goldline Scottish Curling Tour

November 6, 2017

The Goldline Scottish Curling Tour event in Forfar and TCT Curl Fest event finished yesterday with a Final between Team Mike Dick and Team Grant Barr. 

Team Barr got off to a strong start and never looked back to lift the trophy.Many thanks to all teams who participated in a very successful event. For the first time points were secured for The Scottish Curling tour and The Over 50's Caledonian Tour.The SCT now moves on to Dumfries International while the next TCT event will be the Edinburgh International.

The Forfar Curl Fest is half way through the round robin stage. 

The Red Section is currently topped by Team Mike Dick, winning their first two games against Grant Barr and David Jones. Local team, skipped by Jim Menzies but fourth stone thrown by Doug Wilson, had a well controlled game this morning against Sheila MacFarlane to currently sit second with two more games to come. The Goldline Scottish Curling Tour heads to Forfar this weekend for Curl Fest.  Play starts on Friday the 3rd of November at 6pm. 2 sections of 6 will fight it out across the weekend with the finals taking place on Sunday.  Forfar Indoor Sports is looking forward to welcoming rinks from around Scotland, England & beyond to the Forfar Curl Fest for 2017.

Semi Finals

Team Bryce took on Team Jamieson in the first Dumfries Open Semi Final - and it was a score of 4 in end three for Bryce that proved decisive in an otherwise close match. (Final Score 7-4)

Team Gallacher struggled to utilise the hammer in their Semi Final, meaning the young local team lost out to Team McNay. (Final Score 7-1)

Draw 3

Section A saw wins for Pougher over Blair (10-2), and Bryce over Morton (7-2). Section B saw Taylor with a convincing win over Gallacher (11-0), and McNay with an equally convincing win (7-0) over Braehead runners up Hare in four ends.

The second session of round robin games is currently on the ice at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Each section comprises 5 teams - so 2 games per session with one team having a bye.

This afternoon's session saw Bryce defeat Pougher, and Jamieson defeat Blair in Section A. Gallacher was the stronger team in their match up against McNay, and Taylor beat Harmjanz. (byes for Morton in Section A, and Hare in Section B)

After a very successful first tour event at Braehead, many teams are making their second appearance on the Tour this season at the Dumfries Open, taking place at Dumfries Ice Bowl this weekend!

Braehead Champions Team Bryce look to continue their good form, along with fellow finalists Team Hare. Lots of local entries, as well as some familiar faces from further afield.
