McNay wins Dumfries Open!

Semi Finals

Team Bryce took on Team Jamieson in the first Dumfries Open Semi Final - and it was a score of 4 in end three for Bryce that proved decisive in an otherwise close match. (Final Score 7-4)

Team Gallacher struggled to utilise the hammer in their Semi Final, meaning the young local team lost out to Team McNay. (Final Score 7-1)

Final

Two young teams fought a great final, and in the 8th end, Team Bryce were one point down with the hammer. They were looking for their two, but decided to make a safer shot for 1 and an extra end, rather than choosing a riskier option which may have allowed them to score 2. 6-6 after eight ends meant an extra end would decide the winners, and it was McNay who would have hammer in this all important end. With his last stone, Bryce elected to play a freeze, which pulled up slightly short of the perfect spot, meaning McNay didn't have to throw his last stone. McNay take the top spot at Dumfries, gaining the maximum 15 tour points!

A great weekend at Dumfries, with some tightly fought games, and some surprising results along the way too. Many thanks to Graham Sloan and his team at Dumfries Ice Bowl for a great weekend as always - with lots of volunteers making curlers and spectators alike feel very welcome. The support of the competition sponsors Daksh Indian Restaurant, as well as individual team sponsors is, as always, very much appreciated.
