British Open - Draw 5

In the B road Team Bryce bounced back from last night’s loss to overpower Team Ferguson 10-1.

Gordon Jackson versus Michael Reid entertained the spectators this morning in a high scoring affair. Jackson lost a nasty 4 in the 2nd end but battled on playing some aggressive curling on the fast and swingy ice picking up the next 3 ends to lead 10-4 after five. Reid then picked up a couple of threes!!! to tie 10-10 going into the 8th. Naturally there were lots of stones in play again in the final end. Michael drew the button with his first and was able to block the path into the four foot with his 2nd. Jackson, clutching at straws with his final stone, was unable to score, losing a two and the game.

In the C-Road Andrew McAughtrie’s side performed solidly showing less after-effects of last night’s festivities than Team Haswell, six shots up after two, McAughtrie held on for an 8-2 victory.

In the other C-Road game Woolston held his nose in front throughout, keeping the game simple and preventing John Sharp from making his comeback, eventually winning 7-2 and sending Team Sharp into the consolation event alongside Team Haswell.
